The Hop

The Hop is a streetcar service in Milwaukee, Wisconsin that operates primarily downtown and towards the lakefront on the East Side. Initially the streetcar wasn’t very useful for locals, but after recent renovations The Hop has seen some resurgence. As a service that was under scrutiny it was important that the branding for the car was good. The rebrand centered around three important tenets for transportation services: hierarchy, organization and simplicity. The Hop itself is a great idea and deserves great branding to go with it.

The new branding conveys the idea of motion while connecting The Hop to the city and the lake that gives the area and the people of Milwaukee so much character. This case study is a passion project and thought experiment made to explore the potential for a rebrand of The Hop.
